An enterprising restauranteur thought of another way to earn big bucks at the expense of young women. While male customers are enjoying their lunch or dinner, they get the additional “fun” of seeing bikini-clad women wash their cars. I am glad that the major of Iloilo finally put a stop to this sleazy operation.

The military is still looking around for the body of Abu Sabaya. After all that has happened, I cannot help but feel relieved that there’s a possibility that he’s in fact, annihilated from the world. Will they be able to find his body? Maybe not but at this point, I choose to believe that he’s dead.

Just want to post a prayer today.
Dear Lord and Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all the blessing that you have showered upon me. Although I am unworthy of your love and care, you have so generously bestowed your mercy upon me. Father, I pray that you will anoint me with more of the Holy Spirit so that I may be a better shepherd to my sheep. Father, grant me the courage to have a firm but loving hand. May you be my example as I care for my sheep. Thank you, O Lord, for your goodness and grace. I praise your name forever.
In Jesus’ most mighty name.
Amen.

I’m so pleased. Yes, I am. I just got my new office chair. It’s in a beautiful deep maroon color with an incredibly regal pattern. The cushions are oh so soft! I just don’t know how I can get any work done now. hehehehe…
Best thing of all? It’s free =)

After over a year in captivity that resulted in the death of her husband, Mrs. Gracia Burnham is still able to smile and thank the Filipino people. She is truly a living testimony of a person who has the love of the Lord in her heart. May God continue to bless her and her family.

Art Borjal passed away yesterday. Reading about Borjal’s life, one cannot help but feel a certain pride. He didn’t let his polio stop him from becoming a great lawyer and philanthropist. His column Jaywalker has been a vehicle for intelligent commentary on politics, business and many social issues. Borjal also encouraged his readers to assist several charitable institutions. His passing is a great loss to the Philippine Star. He will truly be missed.

A New Meaning to the Dreaded “C” Word
Commitment is usually something people dread. It’s not unfathomable since one of its definitions is “to be consigned to a prison or mental health facility”. But I know of another side to commitment that is very far from being imprisoned. This kind of commitment entails one to be attached emotionally, physically, intellectually, and most importantly spiritually to the most high—God himself! It sounds scary but it’s the best commitment a person can make.
To be committed to God entails commitment to a local church. One simply cannot be committed to God and not belong to the family of God. As it is written in Ephesians 3:10, “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms”. Through the church, we can be trained to develop a closer relationship with God. But that’s not the only benefit of being committed. Commitment also allows us to have the privilege of serving God by assisting in expanding his kingdom. Commitment gives us a fresh meaning and perspective. We do not merely live on a day-to-day existence but we make each day worthwhile by reaching out to the lost and bringing more people to know the Lord. In this process, we gain new friends, learn new things and develop to our fullest potential. Aside from that, blessings will surely follow because God has promised in Matthew 6:31-33, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Indeed, when we commit to God, we will be able to recognize that we did not waste our life on ephemeral things but that of which has eternal worth. Isn’t it great to commit to something that endures forever?

A new challenge.
I heard last Sunday that I will be assigned as careleader of the San Juan caregroup this coming quarter. I am so nervous but I know God will supply everything I need. This is a big challenge for me to deepen my relationship with God all the more. Please pray for me to have the strength and courage to take on this big responsibility. Indeed, to do God’s work is exciting. But in this time of preparation, I will need your prayers.

I don’t know about you but I really like that song by Luther Vandross entitled “I’d Rather”. Don’t have the money to buy the new album but I’ll see the reviews if it’s really worth it. The chorus is my favorite part.
I’d rather have bad times with you, than good times with someone else
I’d rather be beside you in a storm, than safe and warm by myself
I’d rather have hard times together, than to have it easy apart
I’d rather have the one who holds my heart
Isn’t that sweet?
