I am frustrated.

I applied in the DLSU Systen Housing Project, which will allow me to have a modest home for a little more than 500K. I’ve got my hope set high and today my application is being questioned because I am not a permanent employee. I feel really bad because the form said that if one is a full-time employee of any De La Salle System school, one is eligible. I am a full-time employee and I have been working in DLSU-CSB for the past four years. This housing project is really a big blessing to Ganns and myself. I pray that the Lord will make a way for my application to be approved.

Heard that TLC’s Lisa Lopes is dead. I cannot help but feel sad because I remember what a troubled life she lead. She was involved in several mishaps such as the much publicized arson case. May she rest in peace.

Ganns has finished his CD project. I got to listen to some of the songs and they’re so wonderful! I’m so glad that he is using his talents for God’s glory. I really believe that this project will help other people experience God’s blessings and power. Truly, our lives will be more meaningful if we live it for God.

“For we are God’s worksmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Home! Had a great time traveling around Ilocos. There were some high and low points during the visit. I saw the preserved body of Ferdinand Marcos in Batac. Believe me, the mausoleum was so creepy. Imagine, total darkness with only a spotlight focusing on his preserved body. The haunting dirge playing continuously didn’t help in augmenting the unappealing atmosphere. Well, it was an experience. I also visited the Malacaņang of the North to witness anew the extravagance of the Marcoses. A day after, we went to Pagudpud beach, the Boracay of the North, as they say. This was definitely the highlight of the trip. The beach was breathtaking and the waters were incredibly clean. It was so beautiful, I stayed there for at least 3 straight hours! Now, I have a great tan! Well, at least, I think so. =)

So, how was your summer break?

Ganns and I were discussing what weird food combinations we enjoyed during our childhood years. Ganns admitted to eating spaghetti with Kraft Cheez Wiz. My own personal quirk was peanut butter sandwiches with Milo powder. I even remember eating Milo powder straight-up! Yum.

Yesterday, I met the parents of one of my friends in the shopping mall. Guess what her dad told me…”Wow, ang taba mo ngayon ah!” (“Wow, you’ve gotten fat lately”). Totally tactless! I don’t even think I am really overweight. But, I can’t get over the fact that what he said hurt me. Fat comments are just not good for anything.

Did you know that if you search the word “Filipina” in the Internet you will be pointed to mail-order bride sites? Depressing but true.

Filipino National Artist Levi Celerio Passed Away

The brilliant mind behind such songs as “Ang Pasko ay Sumapit”, “Saan Ka Man Naroroon” and “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” passed away yesterday. He died of multi-organ failure caused by pneumonia. Mr. Celerio was 91 years old.

I am blessed to have met the man personally. My family dined in Mario’s Restaurant where Mr. Celerio worked and he was there playing the violin. I remember asking him to play the “Godfather Theme” for me and he did. During his break time, he sat beside me and asked me when my birthday is. I said September. He promptly told me that people born during the “ber” months love music. I can never forget that experience because that was the first time I got to sit and talk to a National Artist.

May his family be comforted in this time of grief.

Wedding Expo at The Fort

Ganns and I will be attending the Wedding Expo at The Fort this Saturday. We hope to get some discounts in dresses as well as photo and video services. At this point, we are thinking of hiring Ding Marquez for dresses, Dino Lara or Josiah’s Photography for pictures and Jason Magbanua for video. Wish us the best!
