Seen on the package of prescribe by Bench Facial Absorbent Paper. Of course, the comments are mine. =)

Application:
1. Before make-up, wipe your face with a sheet of oil absorbing paper to ensure the maximum of make-up charm. (Maximum of make-up charm?! What is that? I didn’t know make-up had charm!)

2. After make-up, whenever you feel oily on facial part or lips, use the oil absorbing paper. (Take note of the singular “facial part”! Somehow, it doesn’t go well with the sentence)

3. For gentlemen, remove the facial oil with a sheet of oil absorbing paper before shaving. (Hmmm…so there IS ALWAYS facial oil before a gentleman shaves.)

This label really cracked me up!

Nevertheless, I like Bench Facial Absorbent Paper. I have this weird feeling that they are produced by the same company that makes Watson’s Oil Control Paper.

Approach-Approach Situation

My old employers from DLSU-Manila are inviting me to teach again. Full-time.
My current employers will be promoting me to research coordinator by June 2002.

Decisions, decisions. . .

I thank God for blessing me with these opportunities. Right now, I am preparing to submit my resumè and other related papers to my former employer.

I’m praying for the wisdom of the Lord in this time of major decision-making.

Just had an absolutely frustrating experience with a student.

I’m part of a thesis committee, which approves topic proposals submitted by students.

A student comes in and submits a one paragraph proposal entitled: A Descriptive Study of the Job Satisfaction of the Rank and File Employees of XYZ Company. Given that he only wants to investigate job satisfaction, the thesis is too simple. With the existing body of knowledge about job satisfaction, this kind of univariate study will be unnecessary. Of course, I did not approve it (as well as my immediate boss who is also part of the committee). Quite interestingly, when my boss talked to the student, he answered in this manner.

Student: Is there a problem?
Boss: Well, your proposal is too simple. Why are you studying only one variable?
Student: Because I’m alone, I have no groupmates.

As if doing your thesis solo is an excuse for submitting substandard work.

Boss: Why don’t you find some groupmates? There are groups lacking in members.
Student: Miss, I can’t stay up too late in the evening, kasi eh.

As if! Whatever! Fact is, this kid is too rich to care according to my boss.

Final Note: Regardless of the reason, I am NOT approving any substandard thesis topics! He better take his thesis seriously.

I wasn’t able to post this when Ganns proposed to me but since Valentine season is coming up, let me put some sugar into your day. =)

The day I met you was the day
that changed my world and lit my sky.
That turned my being inside out,
made me laugh and made me cry.

The day I met you was when I knew
I could never love someone else,
I loved outside of my existence,
I loved outside of myself.

And as each day passes by
I grow to love you more and more.
For all the beauty you’ve inside,
and the wonder you’ve in store.

God has sent an angel down
to bless my life beyond compare.
I pray that Jesus keeps us safe
in love, and in his loving care.

I pray that somehow I give
the happiness you’ve given me.
For all the love I’ve showered you
is none to that you’ve given me.

You make me happy and fill me full.
You bring much joy into my life.
Give me the chance to make you happy.
Marry me, and be my wife.

Reception Venue

It’s true! If you want to reserve a nice place for your wedding. You need to look around at least 1 year earlier. Ganns and I, together with my mom and some friends, scouted around for reception venues last Saturday. Read more about the experience in Ganns’ blog. After visiting 4 venues, we chose Patio Victoria. We wanted to reserve for December 14 or 21 but other couples booked those dates already. We reserved the first Saturday of December.

Ethan Zohn is the Sole Survivor!

Since Survivor Africa started, Ethan was one of my favorites. I was hoping Teresa will be in the final four but she ruined her chances by backbiting Tom. Then again, she didn’t have a chance anyway. The Boran alliance was just too strong. I’m surprised that Kim won the two final immunities. I thought she’d be the first one out once they get to the final four. It is quite interesting how the quiet one won in the end.

Teaches us something about the beauty of maintaining a low profile, huh?! =)

An Adventure of a Taxi Ride

Yesterday, my brother and I went to my Tita’s bakeshop to pick up some goodies for my dad. My mom got carried away with her order over the telephone so, my brother and I were forced to take a taxi ride home.

We had an easy time hailing a cab and the first few minutes of the ride went smoothly. As I was starting to doze off, the adventure began.

The engine stopped. The driver, surprisingly quite relaxed, said: “It’s ok. Bago kasi ang batterya eh. Nag-a-adjust pa.” He started the engine again. Wondeful! The taxi is fine.

After less than a minute, the engine stopped again. Laughingly, the driver started it again saying: “Traffic kasi eh. Problema talaga itong traffic.” After a few minutes, the taxi stopped yet again. At this point, I wanted to go down and get another ride. My brother, on the other hand, offered wise counsel: “Patayin na lang po natin ang aircon.” But the driver was insistent. “Ok lang ho, bago po itong batterya.” The ride went downhill from there. The engine keep on stopping every 1½ minutes. After 10 minutes (imagine how many times the engine stopped!), the engine exploded!

Yeah right, the battery is new.

Fortunately, my brother knows a lot about cars. After some car examination, he declared that: “Aircon lang po ang problema. Pumutok po yung connection. Tatakbo po ito basta i-off lang ang aircon.” He was right the whole time. Once the driver turned off the aircon, the ride went smoothly.

When we reached our destination (quite close to the site of the explosion), we paid the driver and kindly asked him to go straight home.

Inside the house, my brother and I just looked at each other and started laughing. Whew! What a ride!
